Here comes the sun!

Hey guys,

I know some people will be reading this and their initial reaction will most likely be:

what do you mean summer’s nearly here, everybody knows May marks the beginning of summer!

However, I am referring to summer as a concept rather than a season; or perhaps I should say as well as.

People associate summer with warm weather and good vibes, which entice you to make the most of your superficially limitless free time. This is by no means a negative thing, and is in fact the key to a sensational stress-free summer.

There are many reasons as to why you may be in need of a sensational summer, whether you’ve been slaving away in a mundane nine to five all year round, or banging out a pain-staking Uni degree. Even if your life is otherwise perfect, I present to you the key to a super summer:

  1. Spend as much time as possible with the people you love. Life’s too short, and we really don’t get to spend enough quality time with our friends and family, just to show them that we care. What better time than when the sun’s shining and everyone is in good spirits?  tumblr_m5up54lcMg1qcmjw7
  2. Get yourself booked in to attend at least one festival/concert! Nothing goes better with sunshine and positivity than good music. (Also, let’s be real it’s probably the closest most of our generation will be getting to appreciating nature…so there’s that.)tumblr_m6yd6nNeb41qj40ryo1_500
  3. Make sure you’ve stocked up on the three B’s: a barbecue, burgers and booze! Summer is the perfect time to invite around your nearest and dearest and have a good, old-fashioned BBQ! What’s even better is that it’s warm enough to turf all of your guests outside without it being inappropriate, so it’s basically a house party without all of the hassle (and no need for the actual house part.)giphy bad neighbours
  4. Jet off into the sunset! Although it logically makes no sense that–especially as a native to England you would run off to another part of the world leaving behind your only chance at even a glimmer of Vitamin D for the remainder of the year–what does make sense is the logic that if it is simply warm in an otherwise dull and dreary climate, in naturally warm countries the possibilities are endless.giphy
  5. Enjoy your well-earned and most-likely, much needed right to have a lie in. Whether that means you’re not rolling out of bed until midday (or mid-afternoon in some severe cases of sleep-deprivation). Now is your time to take advantage of having no definitive time to be anywhere or do anything until and unless you want to. Of course this does not mean that you are literally planning on wasting away for an entire summer from the comfort of your boudoir, but what it does mean is that it wouldn’t be completely inappropriate if you decided to do just that.little-mermaid-sleep
  6. Enjoy summer fashion! Personally I find summer the easiest time of year to decide on outfit choices. I must admit, at times I am guilty of being a stereotypical girl. This is not because I cake my face in excessive amounts of make-up. Nor is it due to the fact that I spend forever styling my hair. No, my friends, it is the amount of time I spend deciding on the best choice of outfit for the weather. Spring and Winter are similar in the sense that you have to (in my very humble opinion) choose your outfits sensibly. The weather forecast is  telling you there are highs of a measly three-degrees, and as if this isn’t bad enough the chances are (as this is England after all) it is going to rain, so its more about wrapping up than dressing up. Summer is the time when you get to actually take pride in your outward appearance, and can ‘ooh‘ and ‘aah‘ in admiration at the latest cute mini-skirt and wrap-front blouse combo, with a cute pair of summer wedges, or maybe you’re feeling a simple jumpsuit and sandals? The possibilities are endless…Carrie_GIF_2
  7. Last but certainly not least, whatever you do; make sure you enjoy yourself. As with any time off after long periods of hard work and stress, the key to letting your hair down, and ensuring your summer reaches its full potential is ensuring maximum enjoyment in all that you do. Achievement of this goal is no secret, it’s all about doing whatever you want to do and settling for nothing less.tumblr_m7eq09aq0r1rziwwco1_500
